A-LEVELS: Billingshurst students jump for joy after receiving top results

Billingshurst students were awarded the highest results the school has ever seen with 70 per cent A* to Bs, which is up 10 per cent from last year.

Head teacher Peter Woodman said it has been ‘fantastic’.

“They’re our best results ever by a significant margin,” said Mr Woodman.

“The students are shocked and surprised with how well they have done.

“We, at the school, have been absolutely relentless - every time a child falls behind we pull them out of private study and help them,” he added.

Alex Crowley, 18, said he was ‘really pleased’ with his results.

“I found out I got into my university this morning, but I was still nervous about seeing my results,” he said.

Alex will now be going to University of Birmingham to study Biochemistry.

Former head girl, Priya Sodha, 18, said: “I’m happy. I didn’t let myself get nervous until today. I’m going to do maths at Durham University.”

Student, Michael Williams, said he is ‘bouncing off the walls’.

“I’m elated. I was nervous that I wouldn’t get into my university. I’ll be doing medicine at University of East Anglia,” he said.

Bobbie Edsor, 18, said she was thrilled to get two A*s and one A.

“I got much better than I expected. Tonight I’m going to Brighton with friends to celebrate,” she said.

Bobbie will be attending University of East Anglia to study English Literature and hopes to become a journalist.

Head of the sixth form, Tom Backshall, said it is ‘fantastic’ to see the students go on to ‘realise their dreams’.

He said: “About 85 per cent of our students will go to university and the vast majority got into their first choices.

“Others students are doing apprenticeships.”

Libby Nash, 18, will be travelling across Australia and Thailand, whilst her twin sister Amy plans to go to Kings College to do children’s nursing.
