Keeping Sussex connected to the internet: Lightning Fibre broadband business confirms “business as usual”

A change of ownership at Lightning Fibre, but the same great service from this East-Sussex based broadband network operator.

East Sussex-based 'AltNet' (full fibre broadband network operator and ISP) Lightning Fibre has changed ownership – but customers have been reassured that it’s “business as usual”.

The existing senior management team remains in place and the company is committed to providing the same great quality, value and connectivity as always.

The Lightning Fibre business and assets of Lightning Fibre Limited have been transferred to LF Holdco 2 Ltd on February 19th, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foresight Fibre Holdco Limited.

They said the transfer ensures that the Lightning Fibre business will continue to trade as normal, that customers are unaffected by the change and have been notified in writing.

Foresight is fully-committed to Lightning Fibre, and we have every confidence in the Senior Management Team to further develop the company

Amit Thakrar, Director at Foresight Group.

Stefan Stanislawski, Lightning Fibre’s CEO, added: “In the short term we have changed our strategy to leverage our strong brand and focus more on growing customer take-up, rather than on expanding the network coverage. We also have exciting plans to extend the reach of our successful ISP beyond our own network this year.”

Lightning Fibre says the transfer will mean no change to its community-focused approach. It’s commitment to building a compelling and popular local brand saw the firm scoop the highly-coveted ‘Best Consumer ISP (with fewer than 50,000 customers) Award’ at the ISPA Awards in Nov 2023. And it enjoys a 4.8 'excellent' Trustpilot rating.

Customers have enjoyed some great-value packages too. In January it launched a 2.5Gbps service for £99 per month. The 150Mbps package is priced at £24 with a set-up fee of £48 and 900Mbps is currently £39.

To help you plan your budget Lightning Fibre’s fixed term contract service fees last for two years, guaranteeing no inflationary mid-contract price increases. A 50Mbps symmetric social tariff package was introduced in early 2023, for £15 on a rolling 30 day contract for households eligible for means-tested benefits.

Customer testimonials

  • One Trustpilot review wrote last month: “We recently had Lightning Fibre installed and couldn’t be more pleased with the installation and results. The installers were very friendly and efficient, discussing with us exactly what we wanted with wiring and positioning etc. they also left our home spotless. We will highly recommend to anyone thinking of changing to Lightning Fibre.”
  • Another five-star reviewer was delighted with both the installation experience and the price: “Very happy with the installation. The engineers where extremely polite and efficient and explained the whole process. The speeds have been fantastic so far and exactly what was promised. The price is excellent and cheaper than the competitors can't recommend lightning fibre enough.”
  • Another review called ‘going above and beyond’ praised the great service, writing: “After switching to Lightning Fibre in October last year the installation was completed perfectly, respectfully and cleanly with promised speeds on up to 150MBs. We recently purchased a new PlayStation for our children. However it wouldn't connect wirelessly to the wifi. After a few back and forth emails the technician I had been dealing with asked if he could pop along and have a look in person. Wow - what a breath of fresh air.
