Staff at Eastbourne DGH observed a minute’s silence on to remember those who have died in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

It was International Workers’ Memorial Day on Tuesday (April 28) and staff at the hospital took a moment at 11am to stop and reflect on the lives of key workers who have been lost.

Staff have been hit close to home recently after former DGH pharmacist Pooja Sharma died last month.

The official cause of her death is not yet known, but it is believed her father had coronavirus.

Tributes poured in for Pooja following her death, aged 33.

A spokesperson at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said, “Pooja was a much-loved and respected part of our pharmacy family.

“It was a privilege to call her a colleague – she will be missed terribly, especially her enthusiasm and sense of humour.”
