Ambulance workers: 'We're striking for more resources to help more people'

Members of the public gave support to striking ambulance workers gathered outside the headquarters of the South East Coast Ambulance service in Crawley today.

Drivers tooted their horns and waved as members of the GMB stood with placards outside Nexus House in Gatwick Road.

A union spokeswoman said: “We’re striking today because we don’t have enough resources out on the road to get to our patients.”

She added: “If we get getter pay we are going to employ more staff and retain more staff, and have more resources and ambulances out on the road to get to the patients we want to help.”
