Hailsham Roadways responded to a plea from Motcombe Infants School - the company spent two days at the school to improve the children’s play gardens.

The two workers from Roadways were given a list of gardening and grounds maintenance tasks which would ensure the children would have new areas in which to grow flowers and vegetables. This meant they could learn about planting, nurturing, and cultivation.

The children have now planted spring bulbs for next year. CB Winters & Sons of Polegate donated top soil for the project.

They also built a new play house, mini bridges, and a mud garden.

Everyone at the school was very happy with the results and Roadways featured on the front page of the school newsletter.

James Bailey, Hailsham Roadways’ chief executive, said, “If we can, we’re always delighted to help local charities, schools and community projects. It was a pleasure to do so for Motcombe Infants School and see the children enjoying their new facilities.

Emma Moore, the school’s foundation stage leader, said, “Thanks so much to Hailsham Roadways, it’s amazing! It’s so kind and generous of the company and will make such a difference to the Motcombe environment for the children to enjoy and learn in.”
