Nurses needed to make a difference

The Crawley-based hospice provides end of life care for people living right across the Horsham area

Jan Thompson has worked as a nurse at St Catherine’s for 18 months.

She said: “When thinking about what was important to me as a nurse, I realised it was the holistic care of the patient.

“I know that is a term that is bandied around, but for me it is the core of why I do what I do.

“We really involve family and friends in care and care planning, on our In-Patient Unit and especially in the community with the Practical Care Teams.

“I really enjoy the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of care and St Catherine’s is a place where it comes together for me.”
