“2020Plus Horsham is being moved to later in the year,” says think-tank chairman Mal Fletcher.

“The goal - to help attract more young innovators to Horsham - will be better met by rescheduling to a date when more of the area’s key leaders are free to attend.

“At 2020Plus we strongly believe in the future of Horsham, as a potential hub of innovation to attract the young entrepreneurs and new businesses that will safeguard the future of the district.

“Though preparations for this week’s event were well advanced, after careful consideration with our local hosts we have decided that Horsham would be better served by rescheduling. We are in direct contact with those who booked to attend and will extend to them an automatic booking for the future.”

Think-tank 2020Plus brings together leaders from the worlds of business, local government and the voluntary sectors to look at how key towns and cities can develop for the good of their communities.

The challenge to the Horsham area, as identified by the think-tank, is to win back its lost generation. These are the 18-to 30-year-olds, the millennials, who are being lured away by better prospects and cheaper housing elsewhere.

2020Plus Horsham was diaried for March 27. It will be rescheduled for later in the year and will link in more closely with other European-wide events being staged by the think-tank.
