Felpham store set to close

Southern Co-operative has made the commercial decision to shut its outlet at 107 Felpham Way on April 12.

A spokeswoman said the decision had been made after careful consideration,

“This is purely a commercial decision based on difficult trading conditions and does not reflect the hard work of our colleagues at this store,” she said.

“Those colleagues affected have been informed of the closure of the store and we are working with them to ensure that, where possible, they will be able to transfer to another The Southern Co-operative store if they wish.

“The Southern Co-operative’s approach remains one of continued growth.

“We have successfully added over 100 stores to our estate in recent years and will continue to open and operate our stores in areas that are profitable to our business.”

The Co-op store has been open for many years but has had competition recently from a Tesco Express nearby.
