Spokesman Bill Kirwan said: “Created by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez (co-creator of Book of Mormon and writer of the songs for Disney’s Frozen), Avenue Q is an irresistibly-charming musical which tells the story of the loveable characters on a downtown New York street trying to make sense of life’s burning issues.

“Hilarious, cheeky and uproariously entertaining, with a terrific batch of songs performed by a cast of hugely talented performers and puppets, Avenue Q is the musical like no other.”

Bill added: “The Company, Act Too Group, has grown constantly since 1992. Leading the way in local amateur theatre production by friendly and ethical example. they look to provide the best experience for performers of all ages. No other company works harder to provide the most up-to-date and fun opportunities to work on and appear in professional standard shows in central Sussex venues . . .

“Act Too Group have been proud winners of no fewer than three NODA Area Councillors Accolades of excellence for Copacabana, The Witches of Eastwick and We Will Rock You. In 2008 we performed the European amateur premiere production of Mel Brooks’ The Producers, and in 2009 we achieved the ultimate accolade in amateur theatre by being invited, out of all UK amateur theatre companies, to provide the entertainment at the NODA presidential inauguration ceremony in Leicester. With two arts academies and producing several productions each year, Act Too continue to build and aspire to greater things.

“Building on that success, and particularly with the aim of having a great time, the company have embarked on this adventure onto Avenue Q. The cast has come together from mid-Sussex and have been honing their puppetry skills to take on the challenging, multi-tasking roles. If the show proves to be just a fraction of the fun being had in rehearsals, it will be an absolute blast!

The show will be at Martlets Hall, Burgess Hill, from November 20-22.
