Ariel’s East Grinstead and Crawley students star in Aladdin

Ariel students from East Grinstead and Crawley academies will be enjoying festive fun when they join the cast of Aladdin at Chequer Mead, East Grinstead, from December 20 to 30.

Eight Ariel students successfully auditioned for the popular panto, which will be performed by Company of Friends with Crawley support tutor Alex Watts landing the coveted role of the Genie of the Lamp.

The pantomime is a firm family favourite that will take the audience on a magical carpet ride full of sorcerers, princesses, baddies and, of course, the larger-than-life Widow Twankey.

The students starring in Aladdin are Harry Simpson, 15, from the Crawley academy and Tyler Rainbow, 16; Matthew Barnett, 15; Alicia Ally, 14; Callum McCabe, 12; Fleur Record 8; Cara McCabe, 9; Sophia Ally, 8; all from Ariel’s East Grinstead academy.

Karen Brown, East Grinstead’s principal, said: “I am so delighted that so many of my students were successful with their auditions. Performing in a pantomime is a fantastic experience! While they will be having a lot of fun and raising the roof with laughter, they will also be putting the skills they have learned into practise and expanding their drama skills.”

Tickets are still available for Aladdin. To book email [email protected] or call the Chequer Mead box office on 01342 302000.
