Sammy's sunk by Elliott's screamer
Following an eye injury to Danny Smith, which left the ex-Worthing man needing hospital treatment, Southwick took full advantage of their temporary numerical advantage. Elliott picked the ball up in midfield and delivered an absolute thunderbolt from 30-yards to send the Wickers bench into a frenzy.
Elliott's celebrations included a striptease act which saw the Southwick forward remove his shirt. This show of bare flesh cost Elliott a yellow card and an 8 fine as referee John Flinn proved, once again, that most officials at every level have a sense of humour failure.

Hide AdThe defeat, Lancing's sixth of the season, leaves the men from Culver Road just one place and one point off the bottom of Division Two. Wickers' victory on the other hand moved them four points clear of the drop zone as the busy Christmas period approaches. This basement battle was never likely to be one for the purists and so it proved as neither side did much to signal that their league position is false.
