Horsham boss Di Paola admits: '˜We didn't work their goalkeeper'

Hornets only stirred visiting custodian Jack Delo into making a save three times in the whole game.

At the other end, fine individual goals after around 15 minutes early in each half by experienced goalscorer Ian Pulman proved decisive in clinching Herne Bay the three points.

Di Paola said: “We got into good areas a lot of the game but we weren’t really creative.

“It has been a problem all season. We could do with an experienced centre forward like their one (Ian Pulman) who scored their two goals.

“If we had one who could have got us 20/25 goals this season then we might have had a different season.”

The Horsham boss believed his side did not put visiting goalkeeper Jack Delo under enough pressure.

He said: “If we’d have worked the keeper we might have had a different result.

“Our crossing wasn’t good enough, our final ball wasn’t good enough. It’s been up and down all season.”

Although Di Paola praised several of his players, he admitted as a team they did not play as well as they can do.

He said: “Today we probably weren’t at our best. The first goal, Ian Pulman used the vother lad as a decoy. It was a good run and took Steve Matcalf out of the game and it was a good finish.

“The second goal was the poorer one of the two. Charlie Farmer was done by a similar run.

“We have probably won with worse performances than that - Ash Jones, Adam Hunt, Scott Kirkwood, Alfie Rogers and Darren Boswell all played well.”
