Firefighters tackle Pulborough farm machinery blaze

Farm machinery was ‘well alight’ in a blaze in Pulborough, according to the fire service.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to reports of the incident in a field off Black Gate Lane near Pulborough at 6.10pm yesterday, May 11.

He added: “Retained (on-call) firefighters from Billingshurst and Storrington fire stations were mobilised to the scene and upon arrival found a telehandler well alight.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus brought the fire under control using two high pressure hose reels, and one jet. They used their light portable pump to draw water from an open water supply.”

The last crew left the scene shortly before 8pm, according to the spokesman.
