Hornets chief Dominic Di Paola said: “We signed him on which is good. He’s an ex-Horsham boy and did well. He has been out for 18 months and has not really played any football for ages. “He will fit in well, he is our sort of player, neat and tidy and moves the ball around well.

“Good for Charlie scoring the goals. They are training matches, but we hope he can get fit as possible, if he does, he will be a good signing for us.

“He’s still some way off that, but he knows he needs to up his fitness.

“He is still only 19, but has massive potential. Him and Doddsy did well up there.”

On their first outing overall, Di Paola added: “It was ok, we are not really looking at the scoreline as I know Worthing United were trialing and number of players as well, so it was largely irrelevant.

“We saw some good things and bad things, it’s what pre-season is all about - we have lots we need to work on.”
