Age UK Horsham District events for Carers’ Week 2013.

Refreshments will be available every day at Lavinia House Day Centre, in Dukes Square, Denne Road.

Two course lunch are available at 12.30pm any day during the week at a cost of £6.50 per head. Book at least a day in advance via (01403) 260560.

Monday June 10:

Age UK Horsham District is opening the Lavinia House, 9.30am to 11.30am and from 2pm to 4pm for anyone wishing to look around and find out what services are available to support carers.

Information and Advice team - Carers are welcome to pop in between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Ask for Angela or Marion when you arrive.

Help at Home - for help with shopping, light housework and gardening. A handyman service is also available. Call in between 9.30am and 3.30pm to talk to Sue or Jo.

Wednesday June 12

Carers and their loved ones are invited to an information and social afternoon with entertainment and refreshments between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

Cost £3.50 a head. To book call (01403) 260560.

Cognitive Help and Therapy Team (CHAT). CHAT supports with those living with dementia offering 1 to 1 programmes in your own home and have seen some impressive results.

Phoenix Club. Available to chat to anyone wishing to find out more about stroke and the services the club can offer.

Community Link Alarms (Horsham District Council). Able to discuss your options.

Prevention Assessment Team (PAT Team): Able to offer information and advice.

Carers Support West Sussex: Come along for a chat between 10.30am and 1.30pm, and find out about the support available locally for carers. No appointment necessary.

Legal advice talk at 3.00pm, covering the practicalities of will writing; powers of attorney; trusts; and Inheritance Tax and asset protection.

The talk will be given by Phil Lansberry of Spofforths, who is an Age UK Horsham District Trustee, has specialised in this area of the law for over 30 years. After the talk Phil will be available to answer questions. He said: “We would like to ensure that everyone attending has a full understanding of the issues involved and to have the chance to seek advice on their own particular circumstances.”

Alzheimer’s Society: Tim Wilkins will also be available to discuss any issues with carers and their loved ones.
