WALK: Dec 30. All welcome, just turn-up at car park at Southwater Country Park (off Cripplegate Lane) at 11am. Easy flat circular, guided, free, sociable HDC Walk along bridleways, lanes and the Downs Link. Café open in the Park at the end. 2½ miles, 1 hour. Pat 01403 240654.


WALK: Dec 31. All welcome, Washington & Findon Valley, 6½ mile circular, sociable, HDC Health Walk around Chanctonbury and Findon Park. Free, just turn-up at Washington South Downs Way car park at 8.30am. Dogs allowed on a lead. 2¾ hours. Mick 01903 745971.

NEW Years Day Big Dip 2012 organised by 1st Birdham & Witterings Scout Group at the end of Shore Road in East Wittering, West Sussex PO20 8DZ.

Sign in 10.30am-12.30pm, Dipping at 1pm. All dippers must be in fancy dress and all must get really wet!

WILDLIFE Walkabouts, Jan 5, 10am-noon at RSPB Pulborough Brooks nature reserve, Wiggonholt, Pulborough. Our regular gentle ramble is an ideal introduction to the reserve and its varied habitats and wildlife. Join us for an informal nature walk, taking in the seasonal delights on the brooks or on our heathland trail. Cost: £4 per person (£2 per RSPB member).
