This year, The Capitol is producing one of the most popular and timelessly classic Christmas stories, Cinderella.

This brand new production, created especially for The Capitol, stars Scotland’s finest Keith Jack (runner up in the BBC’s Any Dream Will Do) as Prince Charming and the inimitable Rosemary Shrager as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.

The production also stars Olly Pike (Wiley Sneak in CBBC’s Trapped) as Dandini and a superb cast of seasoned professionals including Zoe Adkin in the title role, Dot and Babs – The Wugly Sisters – and brilliant comic actors Mike Goble as Buttons and Richard Alan as Baron Hardup.

Cinderella will offer everything people expect from a pantomime and more. It will have wonderful songs drawn from recent pop charts and classic musical theatre, fantastic sets and costumes and a thumping good story coupled with jokes old and new aimed at the whole family. The production will also feature miniature Shetland ponies supplied by Luckens.

The show opens on December 11, and plays through until January 4, with two performances most days.

For the second year running, there will an opportunity for local dancers to participate.

For Cinderella, Nick Mowat the director and Chloe James, the choreophrapher will be looking for up to 28 local young people to form the Juvenile and Senior Chorus.

Nick said: “As a community venue I think its very important that we give local people the opportunity to join the professional company and experience working in a large scale show. In Peter Pan we provided opportunities for 29 local children and we hope to have almost the same number in Cinderella.”

Chloe added: “We are looking for younger children who may not have had a huge amount of experience, but are great movers and bring masses of energy and enthusiasm and older boys and particularly girls who probably, though not necessarily, attend one of the local dance schools, or perhaps dance at their school and who want to join our professional ensemble and give them selves the experience of a lifetime.”
