Billingshurst’s new community project Evershed Arts got off to a flying start with a launch evening profiling local talent.
Spokesman Stuart Coupe said: “Excellent sets from violin and cello duo Inner Chord and Horsham trio Mezzo complemented a piano jazz set from Julie Roberts and self-penned songs from Billingshurst songwriter Trevor Clawson.
“It was a wonderful evening showcasing the sorts of acts that we will be putting on at Evershed Arts in the coming months.
We have a fantastic asset with our Chapel and Library Room and we want to open the space up to be enjoyed by the community.”
Evershed Arts was established by the congregation of the Billingshurst Unitarian Chapel.
In addition to hosting a monthly folk club and occasional classical concerts, there is an exhibition space which local artists can use in the Grade II listed 18th century building, part of which was formerly the village library.
Upcoming concert information and enquiries about use of exhibition space can be made through the website http://www.ukunitarians.org.uk/billingshurst/evershed.htm.
