180 sequinned waistcoats seeking a new home

Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, one of the largest of Brighton and Hove’s 31 local choirs, choruses and choral societies, is looking for a local storage facility for 180 sequinned waistcoats, a musical back catalogue of 4,000 scores, and some treasured pieces of staging, scenery and props from previous award-wining Pride Parade floats and productions at Brighton’s Dome and Theatre Royal.

Paul Charlton, vice-chairman of the chorus, said: “Ideally we need a space about the size of a double garage, with easy access, and an area which can be used a few weekends a year for set-building and painting.

“We’re very grateful to the Co-op on Brighton’s Lewes Road for our present storage, but owing to redevelopment work, that arrangement ceases at the end of the year. If any businesses or companies within the Brighton and Hove postcode area think that they might have space available, on a complimentary or low rent basis, we’d be delighted to hear from them.”

Paul added: “Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus was established in January 2005 and has about 100 members. It provides a space where people can celebrate music, enjoy the fellowship of other like-minded people and contribute to the local communities of which it is part. The chorus has three guiding principles: singing, socialising and support.”
