VIDEO: The start of Arunners’ Beach Run

ARUNNERS Running Club hosted their annual Beach Run last night in glorious weather along Littlehampton seafront.

The race began on Littlehampton West Green and, after a loop of the field, runners raced along Littlehampton seafront, including on the beach, before returning to the finish line on West Green.

There were 399 finishers in the senior five-mile race, up from 266 last year, and the junior three-quarters of a mile race had 116 entries, up from 103 last year.

The winner of the senior race was Paul Sargent, of Burgess Hill Runners, who finished in 28min 58sec. He was eight seconds ahead of runner-up James Walker, of Steyning, with Lewes’s Andrew Masters third in 29-14.

The winner of the women’s race was Lewes’s Shelley Cornes in 30-50. Chichester Runners’ Fay Cripps was second in 32-15 and another Lewes runner, Lara Barazzuol, was third in 32-45.
