‘Unbelievable’ Robinson can fill void left by Dunn at Horsham FC

The winger scored and starred in the Hornets’ 3-1 win against Sittingbourne on Saturday, with Junior Kaffo and Ross Morley also on the scoresheet.

Charman heaped praise on Robinson and fellow new signing Bruno Pacheco, as he builds a squad capable of playing ‘the Horsham Way’.

He said: “I thought at times today Ashley Robinson was unbelievable.

“He is a similar player to Billy Dunn, in work ethic and ability - he’s a match winner and we saw that today. He’s a real talent and I can understand why he was at Crystal Palace.

“He just spoke to me and said he’s really enjoying himself, so let’s hope that continues until the end of the season and into pre-season as well.”

The manager has been determined to build a passing culture in his Horsham side, and thanked the board for helping him sign the right players for his system.

He said: “I’ve brought two players to the club in the last week who suit the way Horsham Football Club play.

“I want to play football in the right way and I’m trying to bring football players into the club that play ‘the Horsham Way’. I’m not just going to go out and get any willy-nilly player.”

Charman believes his side need just two more wins from their final 11 league games to guarantee survival, having burst into form with three straight victories and four from their last five matches.

He said: “It is a good time. Players are enjoying themselves, there’s no doubt about it, and there is a bit more of a buzz around the club.

“Let’s not go overboard, we are still 14th in the league - but we will enjoy it while we’re winning.”

Byron Napper returned from injury with a substitute appearance against Sittingbourne, and Tony Nwachukwu and Scott Harris are expected to be back in contention for tomorrow’s (Tuesday March 18) game at home to Merstham.

A grinning Charman added: “We’ve got some real quality to come back and I’ve got some headaches to have.”
