Triumph for Horsham Jogger Camfield in Rye 10

Hot on the heels of Neil Boniface’s victory in the Horsham 10k came a stunning run by Vet 45 Bryan Camfield in Sunday’s Rye 10 Mile Race, the 8th event in this year’s Sussex Grand Prix.

It’s a testing all-road event on country lanes near the village of Peasmarsh, with repeated hill climbs adding up to around 800 feet. Camfield led the pack from the early stages and by the time he breasted the tape just 2 seconds over the hour, there was a 1m 25s gap between him and nearest rival Josh Pewter of Haywards Heath Harriers.

Another outstanding performer was rising star Carol-Anne Davies-Jones, who slashed 5 minutes from her 2013 course time to win the prize for 1st Female Vet 35. Her teammate Rachael Lloyd-Smith was 2nd Senior Female and 4th Female overall, whilst strong running from Female Vet 60 Julia Johnson and Male Vet 70 Mick Duplock earned them 2nd places in their categories.
