Horsham Rugby Club’s under-13s were convincing 67-5 winners against Haywards Heath in their opening Sussex League match.

The young Green and Whites dominated the set pieces and the breakdown as forwards and backs combining to cross their opponents’ try line on 11 occasions.

Captain Joseph Blake displayed remarkable composure to convert six times while Man of the Match honours went to Hayden Brock, who worked tirelessly in the second row of the scrum and displayed strength and stamina in carrying the ball forward to provide with a firm platform.

Head coach Dayle Kirby remarked: “The other coaches and I were delighted with the boys’performance today. They took responsibility for putting into practice what we’ve been trying to achieve in training.”

Horsham travel to Chobham on Sunday for a non-league triangular fixture.
