TWO TRY Jonny Whiting earned the man of the match honours on his debut as Horsham brushed aside a sorry Crawley to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.
The opening week’s defeat of Park House and this 50-0 mauling of Horsham’s local rivals has the Green and Whites placed second in the early season table, with Whiting, making his first start at number eight, instrumental.
And coach Nick Stocker believes his side could have helped themselves to an even biggest feat of points.
“We had eight try scoring opportunities from line breaks, and only managed to convert two of them,” he said.
“It could have been a 70 or 80 point game, and there are things we can work on such as the conversion rate. We can’t allow teams to have that breathing room, and need to be more ruthless and clinical.”
Whiting made the first breakthrough, as the Green and Whites recycled the ball well and he took a short pass before bursting over the line.
Will Johnson added the second before Ryan Grover found himself with acres of room to run in the third after some quick ball. Liam Yates also added his name to the scoresheet with two tries, while Matt Goodsir also crossed twice.
The pick of the tries came in the 79th minute, when Whiting went over for Horsham’s final score following a Will Johnson break.”
