HORSHAM’S 31-0 victory against nearest rivals Crawley has renewed hope of escaping relegation from rugby’s London South East Division 3.
Seth Wise, Adam Harman, Jamie Gibbs, Giles Barber and Angelo Sheppard scored tries to put Crawley away and move to within striking distance of their Sussex neighbours.
Crawley’s advantage has been cut from eight points to just three.
Coach Nick Stocker enthused: “The team played fantastically well as a unit, it was a complete 15 man team effort.
“From a Sussex point of view it’s not ideal because either us or Crawley will go down but a couple of weeks ago we were ten points behind and now we’re just three so we’re in a much better place then we were.
“Our target on Saturday was to win first and foremost, then score four tries to get the bonus point and thirdly to prevent them from getting to within seven points of us so they wouldn’t get a bonus losing point. We achieved all those things and as an added bonus got a 62 point swing which could prove crucial if we finish on the same points.
“It’s going to go right to the wire and the pressure is really on now. The message to the players is you’ve done the hard work to get back to this position, now you have to carry it through.”
