Horsham RUFC urged to recover from Uckfield disappointment

Horsham came away bitterly disappointed from their defeat at Uckfield on Saturday.

In ‘atrocious’ conditions, the Green and Whites were made to pay for not capitalising on a bright start as they dropped points in their quest for a top three spot.

Assistant coach Billy Morton said: “It was a disappointing day for us all. We should have beaten Uckfield. They are used to their pitch and we made a number of decision making errors.”

Horsham made a good start and were on the board early through Mark Brandon’s boot. But that penalty was to remain their solitary score, as two try scoring opportunities went begging son after. Nick Bell burst through, but ball did not go to hand at the vital moment.

Uckfield then capitalised to go 12-3 up at half time, before a converted second half try sealed victory.

Morton added: “We have to dig ourselves out of this hole.”
