Holbrook Rugby Club are after new players ahead of the new Sussex 1 season.

Under coach Steve Heaton and captain Paul Davey, the North Heath Lane based outfit want a top two finish and some silverware after coming so close in last year’s dramatic cup final against Hastings & Bexhill.

Competition for places shall be fierce after the emergence of some younger players who have come through the ranks to push for first team places and this should bode well for the coming season, in what is a competitive league.

The seconds are looking to gain an automatic promotion spot, captain James Lowe, is eager to field a regular side who enjoy both the playing and social aspects of lower league rugby. Getting a full side out on most weekends was an issue last season and the club are always looking out for new players, no matter what their age, size or experience.

Pre-season training started back in July and has been fitness based but with the first league games starting in mid September, training is now taking on a more technical/physical element. Training is every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, at the Holbrook Club and all new players are welcome.
