After a string of losses in December it would of been nice to start the new year with a run of wins and that looked on track after a victory against Old Dunstonians last week.

This time round however it was the cold weather which came out on top leaving Pulborough to settle for a training session instead.

Burfiend said: “The game was actually called off in the morning at about half eight meaning we just had to train instead which is frustrating as we had prepared well this week.

“We trained on Thursday instead of Friday and named a strong squad so I fancied Cranbrook to be our first away win.

“Our game was called off for a frozen pitch but matches at nearby Bromley and Park House still went ahead which just adds to the frustration.

“Luckily we haven’t dropped a place in the table as results went our way.”

Looking ahead Burfiend went on expressing confidence towards this Saturday’s game against Eastbourne.

He said: “We probably named our worst team of the season last time out at Eastbourne with players playing in new positions. This week is different and we have a very strong side so I fancy us to get all the points.

“Top six is the target this year, meaning we can aim for top four next season. Our second and third teams are doing well in their leagues and we have a fourth team being brought in, the club is going in the right direction.”
