Pulborough RFC hope to steer clear of relegation trouble

Skipper Richard Nicholls says there’s no reason why his Pulborough side can’t dig themselves out of relegation trouble with a better second half of the season.

Boro’s home match with league leaders Maidstone fell foul of the snow, along with the rest of the London 3 SE schedule on Saturday.

It meant they were unable to get the disappointing defeat at relegation rivals Park House out of their system, a result which put them back in the bottom two.

“Obviously we really wanted five points against Park House and only got two, but putting it in perspective that’s only three points we need to find from elsewhere,” Nicholls said. “I think we were complacent, on the back of two strong results I think we forgot that it was as important for them and they were at home.

“But on the plus side, we were 27-12 down at one point, and while earlier in the season we might have given up we managed to get two points from the game.”

Former colts such as prop Josh Haulkner, hooker George Harking and winger Harry Perry have impressed Nicholls since coming into the team, and he believes Boro have the team to get out of trouble in their eight remaining matches.

“The league has been unpredictable and there’s plenty of games we’re targeting for points. As a team we’re playing much better rugby and considering we had a five point deduction we’re still in it there’s no reason why we can’t get even more points.”
