Horsham parkrun, which takes place at in Horsham Park each Saturday at 9am, will welcome Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE - the man who founded the international running phenomenon of parkrun 11 years ago.

The visit is part of a national book signing tour being undertaken by Sinton-Hewitt, following the release of a 120-page photo book that pays tribute to the first 10 years of parkrun.

parkrun: A Celebration was created and curated by a volunteer team of photography, design and journalism professionals, and was shortlisted for the British Sports Illustrated Book of the Year Award.

Horsham is one of 348 parkruns across the UK, which earlier this month were encouraged to submit an invitation to Sinton-Hewitt setting out the reasons why he should visit them for his landmark run.

The events are timed 5k runs – not races – which are open all ages and abilities and coordinated entirely by local volunteers.

Participants register for free on the parkrun website and print out a barcode, which is then valid at any parkrun event worldwide on any Saturday. Each finisher receives their time by text and email later that day, and can track their progress on the website.
