WATCH The Batmobile is speeding towards Glorious Goodwood history

A victory for Crowley and speedster Battaash during the showpiece race at the Qatar Goodwood Festival would see them become the first jockey and horse to win the prestigious contest on four occasions following their successes in in 2017, 2018, 2019, where they have blown away their rivals by a combined total of seven lengths.

Crowley, who is based in nearby Pulborough and has a total of 73 career wins to his name at Goodwood Racecourse, said: “Battaash is the fastest horse I’ve ridden by far, he is the batmobile. He is a very special horse that has become synonymous with Goodwood and it would mean the world to everyone involved if he can win the race for the fourth time.

“We’ve got to go out there and get the job done. It’s hard enough to get one winner at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, so if Battaash was to get four wins in such a prestigious race, that would be something special.”

The 42-year-old jockey has enjoyed a total of eight victories aboard the Charlie Hills-trained sprinter, most recently securing the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot – a race that forms part of the QIPCO British Champions Series.
