Members of the up-and-coming Infinity Gymnastics won praise for their first Sussex Championships last week.
In their first county event, held at K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley, the Southwater-based club entered 11 gymnasts and for many it was their first taste of competition.
Some of the notable performances included Chloe Brailey and Mia Bilbeisi in Grade 2 Women’s pair and Charlotte Wright, Rebecca Waller and Bethany Mason in the Grade 1 Women’s group category, who won silver medals.
Infinity started acrobatocs a year ago, and are reaping the benefits now.
Head coach Kirstine Dawson said: “For the gymnasts in the Grade 1 women’s pairs category, this was their very first competition, performing better than I could have imagined, earning themselves very good scores in a tough category.
“These gymnasts have only been doing Acrobatics gymnastics for the past three to eight months and have coped with the transition from school gymnast to competitive gymnast with complete professionalism and done nothing but hard work in training.
“For the other gymnasts (grade 1 women’s group, grade 2 women’s pair, grade 3 women’s pair), this was their first competition I am very impressed how they have applied themselves during training sessions as well as the competition, with them all competing clean routines and performing them with poise and maturity.”
