Collyer's men's basketball team nets local sponsor

Assurity Consulting, the UK’s leading independent workplace health, safety and environmental compliance consultancy based in Horsham, have sponsored the Collyer's Sixth Form College men’s basketball team.

Collyer’s deputy principal Steve Martell said: “Charlotte Paul and the team at Assurity Consulting are incredibly supportive of the work we do at Collyer’s and genuinely care about helping the next generation.

“We owe them huge thanks.”

The Collyer's basketball team pride themselves on being extremely dedicated, building their foundation on a strong team spirit, training two to three times a week with fixtures being played on a Wednesday.

Charlotte Paul, marketing coordinator for Assurity Consulting’s corporate responsibility activities added: “It has been superb to see such dedicated and passionate leadership for the basketball team and we were happy to support them with the purchasing of some kit to support the team.

“Supporting the local community as far as we can is an important part of the culture at our organisation and we’re delighted we could help them along the way to achieving their goals.”

Overseen by Dominic Evans, the basketball coach based at Collyer's, the basketball academy has big ambitions.

It provides prospective students with the opportunity to develop their skills alongside a quality range of academic courses.

Currently playing in the Surrey U19 league, the academy is aiming to play in the Academy Basketball League next year.

The ABL (Academy Basketball League) is an invitation only competition that comprises of 30 teams.

ABL was started in the 2015-16 season and offers a high level of competition for non-AASE (Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) institutions.

The sponsorship has allowed Collyer's to provide the team with branded warm-up shirts that are worn prior to matches in their warm-up sessions.

“Our sports academy has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, with our basketball team at the forefront of this progression.
