No objections to late Horsham postponement

Horsham manager Dominic Di Paola felt common sense prevailed with the late postponement of last night's home match against Arundel.

The pitch at Gorings Mead survived a mid-afternoon inspection despite light rain in the town all day, but heavy rain from 3.30pm onwards put the Premier Division clash in doubt.

It was eventually called off just 45 minutes before kick-off by match referee Steve Hughes and Di Paola agreed it was the right decision.

He said: “No-one is to blame. I think we could have started, but given the amount of rain that was forecast and came down, you have to repeat the referee’s decision.

“He didn’t want to start it and pull it halfway through. I am sure you could have started, but it wouldn’t have lasted.”
