Jolyon, 21, added his name to a list for former GP2 winners who have gone on to shine in Formula 1, including Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez and Pastor Maldonado when he dominated the sprint race.
It was his first win for the iSport International team in his second season of GP2 racing, and came as a huge relief after mechanics spent the previous two weeks rebuilding his car in a bid to solve an ongoing electrical problem. At one stage Jolyon even had a ten second advantage over Max Chilton.
He said: “This is just incredible. “I think we’ve been pretty quick all weekend, and pretty confident around here, and it’s an incredible track to take my first win on.”
