TEENAGE showjumping star Jessie Drea has continued her giant strides towards the top with selection to the British Equestrian Federation’s 2011 to 2013 World Class Development Programme.
Jessie’s selection comes on the back of a fine 2010 which saw her take gold as a member of the winning Junior Tretorn Nation’s Cup team in Hagen, Germany and also win the NAF Silver tour final in Hartpury, Gloucestershire.
The programme, funded by UK sport, works with the most talented riders providing funding and expert coaching and advice in order to maximise their potential and take medals at the big events.
“It’s fantastic because of the quality of training you get as well as the funding and it means having the help on tap when I need it,” said Jessie, who turned 19 on Tuesday and now lives in Bolney after moving from Broadbridge Heath.
“The junior European Championships take place in July and my aim is to go there and win a medal.”
Jessie joins fellow Sussex riders Amy Stovard and Gemma Tattersall in the programme.
