Runners are being encouraged to sign up for a brand-new event in new surroundings in May with the start of the inaugural Run Wisborough.
The event will feature a brand new 5km and 10km race for serious runners, local families and individuals of all abilities around the picturesque village of Wisborough Green.
The focus will be on fun and enjoyment with pre and post-race family attractions on the village green.
There will be food, a fully-licensed bar, baggage drop, a DJ and live music as well as prizegiving and a warm-up session. There will also be a colour and obstacle race for those too young to take part in the main races.
Local businesses will be lending their support to an event that hopes to attract upwards of 500 participants.
Organiser and local resident Michael Gadd said: “This exciting event is organised by an experienced, professional team from the local community who are passionate about sports and who want to raise money for new sporting facilities in the village as well as create an annual community event.
“We have purposefully structured the course route so that it is on generally flat ground through the beautiful country lanes surrounding the village.
“The accessible nature of the course will encourage spectators at every step of the way, providing a lively buzz to spur everyone on, whether it’s your first attempt at either of these distances or if you are attempting a personal best.
“Runners will all be time chipped and prizes will be given for first place in all categories.”
The event starts at 10am on Sunday, May 8. Prices for the 5km are £12 or £10 for affiliated runners and for the 10km, £15 or £13 for affiliated in advance. For more information, visit www.runwisborough.co.uk or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
