ROFFEY FC admit they made a mistake by appointing Dennis Hughes as manager.

Hughes wowed the Sussex County League Division 3 new boys with an impressive CV as they looked for someone to come in and work alongside boss Andy Maddox in a bid to find new players.

But Hughes, formerly boss at Gravesend-based Kent League side Guru Navak, walked out after just 11 days in the job.

Caretaker boss, and the club’s general manager Graham Powell said the club was left feeling ‘pretty foolish’ over the episode.

“It was an error of judgement from the football club and I put my hands up because I played a part in that,” he said. “It will not happen again.”
