More than 1,500 runners are expected to take part in 32nd annual Barns Green Half Marathon next month.

The event, which takes on Sunday, September 28, this year has a number of new sponsors which will boost the funds that the magnificent local event raises for charity and other good causes.

Once again the main sponsor is Berkeley Homes, who are in the middle of a major building programme in Barns Green. The half marathon race route goes passed both the school site and the housing development site on three occasions over the 13-mile course.

In addition, there are three new major sponsors this year who are all based locally.

The Bluecoat Sports Health & Fitness Club, which is situated in the grounds of Christ’s Hospital School, have pledged their support.

Insurance company More Th>n, which was established in 2001 and as part of RSA, is a company which is extremely proud of its long association with Horsham and the surrounding area, hence their keenness to support the event.

Finally, family-run Motorline Toyota Horsham – one of the longest running Toyota centres in the country situated on Five Oaks Road – has once again backed the event.

The dealership was the original sponsor of the half marathon back in 1982.

Chairman of the Barns Green Half Marathon Committee, Vernon Jennings, said, “It is wonderful to have More Th>n, Toyota and Bluecoat supporting our race along with Berkeley Homes.

“We are extremely proud of what the race has been able to achieve and each year the event gets bigger with more runners, and spectators.

“Our charity this year is Sussex Air Ambulance. Because of the involvement of Berkeley Homes, we will be able to allocate even more funds to our chosen charities as well as the various local and junior organisations that help organise the event on the day.”
