HORSHAM have been told to show more composure after they were denied by a last gasp try in Saturday’s 13-10 defeat to Uckfield in London South East 3.
The Green and Whites enjoyed long spells of territory and possession, but failed to make the most of scoring opportunities as certain tries went begging when the ball was dropped at a crucial moment. After a solid start to the season.
A Matt Goodsir penalty and a converted James Whiting try had given Horsham a 10-8 lead, only for Uckfield’s 79th minute breakaway try from Martin Chappell to clinch the nailbiting contest.
Coach Nick Stocker said: “Although we deserved to win on the balance of play, we did not deserve to win because we did not capitalise on opportunities.
“It was a good, exciting game and a lapse of concentration in key areas put paid to us. We need more composure in the try scoring zone, we dropped the ball twice over the line, you cannot give up opportunities like that against a side like Uckfield.”
