Jade is Horsham’s golden girl again

Horsham’s Jade Brewster, the UK’s top ranked under-17 pole vaulter, comfortably won the South of England Under 15 & Under 17 Championships with a clearance of 3.20m, in Watford at the weekend.

The success follows on from her wins at the Sussex Track and Field Championships, and the Sussex Schools Championships plus a bronze medal at the England Schools Championships - although she was disappointed in the height in the wet weather conditions.

Other members of the Horsham Blue Star Harriers also represented the club in Watford: Jack Milnthorpe jumped well to take the bronze medal in the Under 15 boys high jump, clearing 1.70m, just 2cm short of his personal best. Also in the Under 15 boys age group Ashley Gorton ran a personal best 38.11s in winning his heat of the 300m and although slightly slower in the final he ran well to take fifth place in 38.44s.
