It’s a magnificant seven for Horsham

SUE Crake and Alex Lines-Scrase scored three goals apiece as Horsham ladies seconds completed their pre-season campaign in style with a 7-0 drubbing of Havant seconds.

With a week to go before the league season gets underway, a strong Horsham side started brightly and were soon making early attacks on the Havant goal after good attacking play down the right through Claire Illingworth, Emma Partridge and Sophie Jones - who laid on five of Horsham’s seven goals.

Horsham had a lot of joy down the right hand side and opened up a 3-0 lead before the break, while their penalty corner routines looked impressive and will provide a good base for Saturday’s season opener against East Grinstead.

Defensively, Horsham were superb with sweeper Rachel Humphries, marshalling the defence well.

Aside from the hat tricks for Crake and the lively Lines-Scrase, there was a further goal for Vikki trumpess.

The pick of the goals came courtesy of Lines-Scrase, she picked the ball up inside the final 25, beat one player and fired in at the top of the D from the tightest of angles into the net and a great way to seal her hat-trick, earning her a joint player of the match award along with Partridge.

Horsham II entertain East Grinstead this Saturday at Broadbridge Heath, 2pm pushback.
