Horsham Cycling’s clean sweep

Neil and Coralie Clarke made it a husband and wife clean sweep in Horsham Cycling’s Forbes HilL Climb Trophy.

A total of 21 club riders competed in the annual 1.43mile climb of Brantridge Lane near Staplefield with significant support from other Club members who had ridden there to coincide with the event.

And It was Neil who charged his way to the Men’s trophy, in a time of 6minutes 25.13seconds, despite still recovering from being kncoked off his bike for a second time this year. Peter Delve was second, the club chairman came in with a time of 6min 51.09secs, a 30 second improvement on his 2011 time. Jason Baverstock (7mins 16.23secs) was third on his Hill Climb debut.

And Coralie won the closest ever women’s race. She won the title for a second time, after clocking 7mins, 44.22secs, nine seconds ahead of Rebecca Dyckes, whose 7mins, 53.54secs time was almost 50 seconds up on her 2011 time. And just two seconds behind her was Claire Slade in third, in a time of 7mins 55.46secs on her debut.

The event concluded the season’s events.
