The weekend washout proved no deterrent for Horsham Blue Star Harriers, as their senior men’s team won in the mud at Bexhill.
In the latest of the Sussex Cross Country League fixtures, the Horsham team were winners of their divisional match, on 158 points beating Eastbourne (223) into second.
The in-form Adrian Fautly led the team home in an excellent 19th place, running 30mins 27secs for the five mile course, and was also third in the under-20s. He was followed home by Francis Scarr in 33rd place (31m46s), with Alex Best 51st in 33m35s and Ryan Bowyer just 12 seconds behind in 55th place making up the team, who are now second in the division and well placed for promotion.
The under 17 men’s race saw a good run from Daniel Eeles to finish eighth and with Will Thomas 17th and Owen Maskell 22nd the team placed third on the day and move up to fifth overall.
In the under 13 Girls race there was another good run from Neave Scott to finish seventh (12m24s) and with Tabbitha Hammant 20th and Romy van der Veen 22nd the team finished in fourth place on the day. The club had just two runners in the under-15 Girls event, Caroline Wirth finished 13th and Rebecca Williams 15th.
Of more than 80 finishers in the senior women’s race, saw Rebecca Adams was first Blue Star home in an excellent 17th place with Cammi Cowan close behind in 21st, while Maisie Boast continued her improved form in 71st. The Under 13 Boys race saw Connor Dearden the leading club runner finishing in 16th position, closely followed by Josh Eeles in 20th. Jacob Cann in 32nd place and Christopher Dunstan in 39th made up the team that finished in seventh place.
There were only two Club runners in the Under 15 Boys race with Luke Triccas finishing in 19th and Joe West in 23rd.
