JOLYON Palmer is hoping for a change of luck when the GP2 series moves to Barcelona this weekend.
The Southwater-based driver was blighted by mechanical problems in his last two outings in Bahrain, and now the Formula 1 feeder series has moved to Europe, Jolyon is looking for a clean slate. When not blighted by an intermittent electrical issue in Bahrain, Jolyon was quick, setting the fastest lap of the sprint race, but had to settle for a best finish of seventh over the four races.
Now, iSport team driver Palmer is hoping to put his mechanical problems behind him at the 4.655km Spanish F1 Circuit De Catalunya, where he ran ninth quickest overall during pre-season testing.
“Going into the European season we need to start again,” said Jolyon. “After so much bad luck in Asia we now need to put that behind us and start picking up the points our pace has deserved. After doing three days of pre-season testing at Barcelona I know the track well and with the expected high levels of degradation in the races we should be in a strong position.”
Full coverage of Jolyon’s weekend in Barcelona, including live timing, will be available on his official website. All four GP2 sessions will also be screened live in the UK on the new Sky Sports F1 channel.
