Bowls round-up: Southwater Sharks take bite out of their stablemates

Southwater Sharks gained revenge for defeat earlier in the season against Southwater Wasps, winning all six points in their West Sussex County Short Mat Bowls League NE Division 2 clash.

The Sharks won on both mats to claim maximum points against their stablemates . top rink went to Ruth Corcoran, Brian French, Enid French and skip Alex Mills who took the first end and maintained the lead throughout the game to finish +7.

Horsham IBC endured a tough afternoon in their eight shot defeat to Wey Valley.

Top Horsham rink went to Norman Brown, Mark Ryan, Alan Potter and skip Colin Watson, who won 25-14.

Next up, a friendly match saw Horsham dispatch the visiting RACS League team. Top rink went to Sylvia Thomason, Pat Reeves and D James 35-8.

Meanwhile, Horsham’s gents emerged empty-handed from their trip to Worthing, losing four of the six rinks.

The Horsham bright point was provided by Mick Porter and his team of Norman Brown, Peter Dawes and Les Jones, winning 30-14.

Horsham’s ladies were then unlucky at Denton Island, losing on four of the six rinks played. Top rink went to Gwen Webster, R Gallager, Linda Adamson and skip Heather Grant 26-9.

The visit of Hayes and District Bowling Association proved to be a one-sided match, one of the away team’s rinks won by 46 shots.

Meanwhile, Horsham lost by ten shots to Old Coulsdon in the Denny Plate, and Horsham’s ladies won three rinks in their overall success against Langney in the Yetton Plate.
