More than 1,100 people entered this year’s Barns Green Half Marathon and they were treated to warm, sunny conditions as well as 13.1 miles of beautiful countryside.
This year’s event held on Sunday was started by legendary rock drummer Kenney Jones from The Who and the Small Faces who was raising money and awareness of charity Prostate Cancer UK.
The race was won by Chichester Runners AC star James Baker for the fifth time.
He finished a superb 1m minutes 48 seconds ahead of runner-up Max Dumbrell from Brighton & Hove City AC in a fast time of 1h 11mins 8secs.
Ben Savill of Lewes AC was third 30 seconds behind Dumbrell.
The women’s race winner was Horsham Amphibians’ Tri club’s Amy Harris from Mannings Heath.
She finished 1 min 6 secs ahead of Worthing Harriers over-40s veteran Sarah Kingston in 1h 22min 9secs and another over-40s veteran runner, Sue Fry of Hailsham Harriers who was third.
