Martlets bowls pair crowned Sussex Champions
The Martlets Short Mat Bowls Club dominated the West Sussex County Pairs Championship as Chris Rolph and John Brown were crowned 2012/13 champions.
Of 29 pairs competing at Westergate’s Six Villages Sports Centre, both finalists came from the Billingshurst-based Martlets after Rolph and brown had beaten Infinity’s Jonathan Clear and Ben Haulkham 10-5 in the semi, and Chris Blackman and Mel Lillywhite saw off Upper Beeding pair Jean Armour-Milne and Jim Orman 11-3.
In a surprisingly one-sided final, the Rolph/Brown combination proved too strong as they run out 10-2 winners against their clubmates.
