FOOTBALL legend Jimmy Hill will officially open Loxwood FC's new facilities ahead of the new season.
Hill will open the club's new stand ahead of their pre-season friendly with Ryman League side Corinthian Casuals – one of the most historic names in the game.
Loxwood invested around 3,000 to ensure their ground met County League Division 2 requirements, and prolific striker-turned television presenter Hill will open their new stand on Saturday, August 2.
That day also sees Loxwood host the Casuals, a prestigious fixture for the ambitious club, which was arranged through Loxwood defender Christian Sorenson, who once played for the south London club.
Manager Barry Hunter said: "Christian played there a few seasons ago and we were able to get in tough - they have a great pedigree as a club."
The pre-season campaign starts on Tuesday, July 15, against East Preston and two more home games follow against Camberley Town (Saturday, July 19) and Guildford City (Tuesday, July 22).
Hunter's men go to Godalming Town on Tuesday, July 29, followed by two more home games, the Corinthian Casuals match on August 2, and then Dorking Wanderers on Tuesday, August 5.
"The squad is looking very strong," Hunter said. "We are bringing in a reserve team, so we have been working very hard behind the scenes, I think it's a good mix of pre-season games."
