Jarvis is keen to build on the club’s growing player base and bring the adults and colts sections closer together to fully harness the potential of the membership.

He has instructed his players to train on Friday nights with the colts so that they can invite some of the kids to join their coaching sessions and also so they can support the colts’ leaders with coaching.

Tim van Noort will continue to manage the 1st XI coaching and also plays again this season. The club is also close to recruiting one or two more overseas players.

The huge colts section will largely continue to train on Friday nights for the fourth successive season.

The club is looking to build more coaching matches into training so players get more practice of game time to aid decision making.

van Noort is also involved in the club’s new Select Player Programme; identifying and enhancing the potential of a select group of young West Chilt cricketers to aid their transition into the club’s 1st XI.

This seven-week programme will improve technical skills, fitness levels, tactical awareness with new Friday challenges, look at the mental strength required.

West Chilt’s women and girls have been enjoying the facilities at Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, Storrington on Sundays throughout the winter.

Boys indoor coaching starts on the March 29 at Billingshurst Leisure Centre whilst adults will train at Arundel Indoor School and Chanctonbury Leisure Centre before moving outdoors as the season approaches.

The new Thakeham ground at Abingworth will not be in use full-time until 2018 so the 3rd XI will use the facilities at Amberley for another season.
